John and Dawna, by Dawna Mark

Dawna spent her childhood in Northern Saskatchewan. Dawna has always used art as a method of communication and has been involved in the arts community in Calgary since her arrival in 1993. In 1999, after earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Calgary, she dove into the scenic painter’s world of stage and film. This commercial art form has been sustaining her financially so that she could pursue her fine art interests. It has also provided her with a constant open dialogue about the arts. This communication with fellow artists is critical to her creativity. Dawna is an active member of PAINTER8, an art collective of painters from across Canada.

She now works as a freelance artist offering services such as:

set work
scenic painting
faux finishing,
silver and gold leafing,
trompe l'oeil
theatrical backdrops
venetian plastering
